FAQ
Question
Is the epoxy lining safe for use in potable water systems? Does the lining meet health and environmental standards?

Answer
Yes. CuraFlo® meets stringent safety standards and has a long history of safe and effective use. CuraFlo’s epoxy, CuraPoxy®, has been certified to meet the government standard for safe drinking water, ANSI/NSF Standard 61 and is approved for use in pipes where the water temperature can reach up to 180°F. This standard has been in place since 1988 and has been used to certify over 12,000 products used in drinking water systems. In addition, CuraFlo® has lined over 1 million feet of pipe, representing over 12,000 homes or individual housing units.

Question
How does the cost of epoxy lining compare to that of a repipe?

Answer
You will enjoy significant cost savings using The CuraFlo Engineered Flow Lining System® compared to that of a repipe. Epoxy pipe lining also eliminates the added cost of ripping out and replacing walls, ceilings and floors.

Question
Does epoxy lining last as long as metallic pipe?

Answer
CuraPoxy® has a designed useful life of 40-60 years. Since epoxy linings stop the number one cause of pipe failure – corrosion – they often outlast other metal plumbing systems.

Question
What types of pipe can be epoxy lined?

Answer
Any metal water pipe, such as copper, galvanized steel, lead or cast iron.

Question
Does the lining cover all pipe interiors or do some areas remain uncoated?

Answer
The lining covers all pipe interiors and non-movable pipe fittings. All valves, pumps, and fittings with moving parts are removed prior to lining and replaced with new fittings after lining. Many new fittings are installed (as required) throughout the building’s plumbing systems.

Question
How does the CuraFlo® warranty compare to a repipe warranty?

Answer
The CuraFlo® “NO LEAKS” limited warranty is for 10 years and is transferable should the property change ownership. Repipe warranties offered by plumbers tend to range from one to three years.
